Profs Ludovic Troian-Gautier and Benjamin Elias share lab space located on the first floor of the Lavoisier building. The laboratory was fully renovated in 2014 and possesses state of the art equipment for synthesis as well as for characterization. There is access to techniques gathered in the “Institut de la Matière Condensée et des Nanosciences” (IMCN), such as 300 MHz and 500 MHz 1H NMR spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectrometry, FTIR spectrometer, X-ray spectrometer, analytical and semi-preparative HPLC (classical and chiral). The university has recently received funding for two additional NMR (one 400MHz and one 600MHz) as well as one additional high resolution mass spectrometer. Furthermore, a dark room, required for the use of light-sensitive materials is available, as well as cyclic voltammetry, a UV-vis spectrophotometer and a steady-state fluorimeter. A nanosecond transient absorption apparatus in order to perform in-depth photophysical measurements is also available in lab. UCLouvain has developed several research platforms that allow to characterize each part of these dye-sensitized photoelectrodes. These research platforms are: Molecular Structural Analysis (ASM), Microscopic ChAracterization of Functional and nanostructured materials (MICA) and Surface Characterisation (SUCH).
